I love the words ghostwriting and ghostwriter. When I was a kid, these words conjured strange and interesting notions that involved sneaking into other people's realities and literally writing through them (I was a weird child).
It turns out that my childish notion of ghostwriting and being a ghostwriter weren't that far off. Ghostwriting is about embodying the voice of another in order to write from his or her perspective.

Now for the practical application of ghostwriting in the 21st century. I would love, for instance, to have a large book deal (or two) that paid me to write under someone else's name. Short of that, in so many ways, nearly every piece of writing I produce for others--individuals or businesses--is a form of ghostwriting.
