Script writing

Do you write scripts?

A good script is as close to poetry and spoken word as we get in the land of brand. It doesn't matter whether you're trying to sell health insurance, or promote food services, scriptwriting is where brand people--the writers and creators among us--get to play the most, even if the end result is a 10-second radio spot, a 30-second commercial, or a 90-second company overview.

Of course, there are some necessary steps before arriving at the actual script(s). Steps like:

  • Interviews and market research
  • Reviewing existing collateral
  • Generating and finalizing a creative brief
  • Generating storyboards
  • Having as many "come to Jesus" conversations as necessary around budget and production

Here are a few bullets of script-related projects I've worked on in the past 18 months or so:

  • 10-second "sponsored by" spots for a Portland-area design-build contractor, played over the course of a year.
  • 10-, 15- and 30-second radio spots for a Northwest and Midwest regional health insurers that tied into an online PPC campaign as well as environmental advertising
  • 30-second TV and viral commercials for a Northwest health insurer
  • 2+ minute promotional videos for a B2B food service company
  • 30-second grand opening TV spots for bulk shopping store
  • 2+ minute feature for baby tech sleep solution
  • 60-second animated feature for baby tech sleep solution
  • 90-second animated company overview for high tech consultant

Do you have a message that needs to be heard and viewed--not just read?
