The next installment of Back Fence PDX, Portland’s righteous, riotous and raucous storytelling event is set for this Wednesday, Feb 18th, at the Mission Theater on NW 16th. Doors open at 6 and the show starts at 7.

Be there and listen in as local luminaries Vanessa Veselka, Ezra Caraeff, Jeff Baker, Jordi Barnes, Anis Mojgani, Heather Strang and Brad Fortier wax and wane on “The Moment After”, the evening’s theme.

I’m honored to have a short recollection, Decade Disc 1, Track 6 posted on BackFencePDX.com, based on their February theme, The Moment After.

The moment after I found out Leigh was dead, Neil Young’s voice came through the speakers upstairs, traveled like a ghost and hit me in the spot where my head and neck join. For the last 15-minutes I’d paced and tried to hope. Now I knew.

Back Fence PDX will hold its December event, Rock the Bells, on Wednesday, December 10 at the Mission Theater in Northwest Portland. The awesome lineup includes local Portland musicians Gideon Freudmann, Adam Shearer, Nick Jaina and others telling unmemorized, true eight-minute stories based on the Rock the Bells theme.

Back Fence gives a polite nod to their kissin’ cousin in San Francisco, the Porchlight Storytelling Series.

Why?
Because the world thrives on stories, and because storytellers light the way so others can access their own stories. And, in the case of next week’s event, can anyone ever get enough?
